Lucie Arsenault, visual artist
Born in Quebec City, Lucie Arsenault is a Canadian visual artist based in the Laurentians region of Quebec. Her work explores the notion of vastness and our perceptual relationship with territory. Through attentive observation of landscapes and natural phenomena, she seeks to translate the subtle energies that inhabit a place — the diffuse vibration of a horizon, the quiet tension of a forest, the movement of the invisible.
Working primarily with acrylic on paper, Arsenault combines sweeping gestures, fine lines and luminous layers of colour. Water and pigment interact freely across large surfaces, allowing forms to emerge that evoke aerial landscapes, suspended horizons and shifting territories.
Across her recent series — Patagonian Territories, Divine Insomnia, Encapsulated Landscapes and Floating Horizons — the artist pursues an ongoing exploration of vastness and the invisible forces present in nature, while reflecting on the fragility of the landscapes that surround us.
